There is no doubt that Apple is one of the biggest technology companies on the planet. The tech giant is responsible for making some remarkable products such as the iPhone, iPad, and Macs. Now, Tim Cook’s company is preparing to make the leap towards video games with Apple Arcade. In its official announcement at the Apple event, the company confirmed the rumors of its arrival in the world of video games.
On 10th September, Apple revealed details about the Arcade gaming service, which will launch on September 19 in 150 countries. In the US, a monthly subscription will cost $5, and the new members will be able to take advantage of a 30-day trial period. At the presentation of the Apple Special Event 2019, the company also introduced the Apple TV +, the new iPad, Apple Watch 5, and iPhone 11.
Apple not coming slow
Arcade will have over 100 games at launch. The developers of the service noted that not a single similar service had such a huge starting line. Apple also promised to replenish the list of games every month. The company announced a partnership with more than 80 gaming studios – including Bandai Namco, SEGA, Capcom, Konami, Devolver, Ubisoft, and Square Enix.
During the presentation, Apple also introduced three games that will be included in the starting lineup: the new series of the Frogger in Toy Town franchise, its parent platform game Shinsekai: Into the Depths, and Sayonara Wild Hearts. The latter was previously announced for Nintendo Switch, and we can also download some of the games to play offline. It is not known whether other non-exclusive projects will appear on the Apple Arcade.
The more members the merrier
With a single account we can have access to all the games on iPhone, iPad and MacOS. Apple Arcade will also be available on Apple TV in autumn. Moreover, we can share this account with up to 5 family members. The price of the subscription will not change. The service will also offer personalized collections and lists of recommendations.
What titles to expect?
Let’s not forget the really important question: what games does the service offer? Apple Arcade will have more than 100 exclusive games in fall. For example, we can play “LEGO Brawls”. It involves skirmishing against some of the most popular figures of the LEGO universe. There is also a game called “Hot Lava” that recreates the game that the ground is lava and cannot be stepped on.
A title that has caught our attention is “The Pathless”. It consists of saving the world from a curse. To do this, we will tour an island accompanied by an eagle while shooting with our bow. Aside from a decent storyline, we can be assured that the game will have impressive mechanics and visuals. Sounds good, right?
