The organizers of ESL One Birmingham have unveiled the eight invited teams. The sides will compete for supremacy from May 28 to June in the United Kingdom. In the past week, ESL distributed the invites, one invite per day. Let’s have a look at the teams who will be fighting for the bragging rights.
This competition will not be in the premises of the DPC, yet it just might be the last big thriller of the season. Nonetheless, the best teams in the world will be competing in the event. As it won’t be a part of the competitive circuit. It means that there will be no qualifying points on the line. Yet, this competition will serve as a good warm-up for the most prestigious Dota 2 tournament, The International 9.
Vici Gaming: The team from China exhibited great resurgence in recent competitions. Vici Gaming is currently invited for the TI9. So they rightfully deserve their invite to Birmingham.
Virtus.Pro: The Russian side is the only team in our opinion that can be considered the best team in the world. They won almost every competition this year. In the DreamLeague Season 11, they were just experimenting with their strategy, yet they finished in the top 3. We can tell you that Virtus.Pro won’t go down without a strong fight in Birmingham.
Ninjas in Pajamas (Europe): With 1570 DPC the NiP side currently ranks at 7th place. They are one of the weakest teams and should withdraw from the competition while they still can. Since they will surely get eliminated in the first phase.
PSG.LGD: This time last year, PSG.LGD was ruthless as they beat every top team in the world. In 2019, they are yet to find consistency as they hold 2789 points while sitting at 6th place. They might just surprise us in the UK and may very well win the competition.
OG (Europe), Team Liquid (Europe), Evil Geniuses (North America), Team Secret (Europe): Each team is a force to be reckoned with on its day. Since Team Liquid and OG are The International winners. While Secret and EG have qualified for The International 9. One of these four teams will surely make it to the finale.
No Room For Fnatic
It is quite surprising to see Fnatic not getting an invite for Birmingham. Since the side occupies 5th place in the ranking. They are a better side this season than the invited NiP and PSG.LGD. Yet, it is unfortunate to see them not even getting invited for the qualifiers. Since Mineski and TNC Predator will be competing alongside Team Amplfy and Tigers for the last SEA spot.
The qualifiers of the SEA region will begin on April 9 and end on 14. On May 28, 12 teams will meet in the Birmingham Arena to compete for $ 300,000.
