Marcelo “coldzera” David was officially revealed as a FaZe Clan player in the early hours of Thursday, 26th September. The Brazilian national was on MIBR’s bench since July 2019 and didn’t reveal any plans about his future team. Rumor has it that the signing of the player was done last week, but the news was confirmed on Twitter less than 24 hours ago. Coldzera is due to debut for the team at ESL One New York.
NiKo and Coldzera
Nikola “NiKo” Kovač is possibly the best player in the history of FaZe Clan. The rifler was the second best player in the world in 2017 behind only his new teammate, coldzera and placed third in 2018. In September 2019, NiKo and coldzera played together at an open lan tournament in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The pair competed alongside FaZe coach Janko “YNk” Paunovic and Renegades coach Aleksandar “kassad” Trifunović.
The NiKo-cold partnership is not just in the game, the two have been personal friends for years. On coldzera’s Instagram account, there are several photos of NiKo and him having a good time. In addition, Both have stated their desire to play on the same team on several occasions. So this move didn’t come as a surprise to the analysts of the game.
Current line up
FaZe’s line up has undergone several changes in recent months. The team started the year with: NiKo, Håvard “rain” Nygaard, Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer, Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács and in-game leader Finn “karrigan” Andersen. Karrigan was the first to leave the team in March. The organization hired Dauren “AdreN” Kystaubayev on loan to replace him, but it didn’t work out. AdreN’s spot was soon taken up by Filip “NEO” Kubski, who also parted ways after a short successful spell. In September GuardiaN also left FaZe and went to Na’Vi. So Faze was left with two empty spots.
The organization signed a youngster, Helvijs ‘broky’ Saukants, but still had a vacancy, which was filled by coldzera. It is worth mentioning that YNk has already worked alongside cold in the second half of 2018 for MIBR, when the Serbian was coach of the Brazilian team. It will be exciting to see how the duo will perform in the ESL One: New York.
