League of Legends (LoL) players’ performances are represented by various statistics. The numbers calculated in Riot Games’ MOBA are used to: Finalize results, analyze performances and rank pro players’ performances in championships. The data plays a core element for choosing the best athlete in a competition or match. We will talk about the most frequently used individual statistics in LoL.
KDA (Kill / Death / Assists) is the sum of kills and assists divided by the number of deaths. It is one of the most important statistics of the competitive. Since it calculates the performance of an athlete by looking at their contributions in fights. The higher the KDA, the better the pro player’s performance.
CS and CSPM
CS (Creep Score) is the overall number of minions taken down by a player. Creep Score Per Minute (CSPM) is the average farm per minute. The two statistics reveal who is better at farming during a match or championship. Example: In the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2019, Lev “Nomanz” Yakshin, of Vega Squadron, was the athlete with the highest CSPM (9.71) in the first phase. Meanwhile, the highest CS average (332.67) was achieved by Juckkirsts “Lloyd” Kongubon of MEGA Esports.
Gold and GPM
Gold is the overall gold accumulated by a player at the end of the game. GPM (Gold Per Minute) is the average gold per minute. The results generated by these statistics quantify how a particular player is raising his economy when taking down objective: Destroying towers, inhibitors, dragons, etc.
Example: In the playoffs of the 2019 Challenger Circuit, Thiago “tinowns” Sartori, from NG Gaming, was the athlete with the highest average gold (12.98k). Meanwhile, his GPM of the Spring Split was 457.
WR (Winrate) is the winning rate of a team or athlete during a tournament. The percentage is determined by the number of wins divided by the total number of matches played. Thus, the result demonstrates how successful (or not) a team has been in the time frame. Example: Rasmus “Caps” Winther, Luka “Perkz” Perković and the other G2 Esports players had the best WR (61.1%) in the group stage of MSI 2019.
K, D and A
The attributes of the KDA are also analyzed separately: Kills, Deaths and Assists. Example: In the first split of the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), the first division of North America. Three Team Liquid players dominated the individual categories. Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng achieved the highest kill average (4.22). Meanwhile, Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen had the lowest average of deaths (0.67) and Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in had the highest assists average (8.78).
All of these stats are accumulated when picking the best player of a tournament. Usually the MVP title is awarded to the ADC or mid laner of the team that wins the title.
