If you’re wondering which game was watched the most on Twitch, then we have some exciting news for you. Recently, Esports Observer decided to do some digging and came forward with a report which revealed some exciting details. The report mainly focused on the top 10 most-watched games on Twitch, but it even featured the number of hours watched. Surprisingly, the game which was expected to be at the top was placed second.
League of Legends Takes the First Spot
The report created by Esports Observer featured a mixture of battle royale and MOBAs. League of Legends managed to take the first spot and surpassed every other game. The report further revealed that from the month of January till June, League of Legends has around 512.2 million hours watched. On the other hand, Fortnite was placed beneath LoL. Although the game was expected to take the crown, it was placed second.
Is Second Place A Bad Thing for Fortnite?
Now, getting the second spot is not something bad. It is still a big achievement to become the second most watched game on Twitch. However, Fortnite is the kind of game which has managed to stay on the top at almost every other list. Not only this, but it was even once regarded as the most watched game on Twitch. Back in March 2018, it was reported that Fortnite was dominating Twitch and was the most watched as well as the most streamed game. It was even surpassing its direct competitor, PUBG with a great margin at that time. However, it seems like League of Legends has managed to take the spot from it.
The list basically indicates that viewers are more interested in MOBA’s then in shooting titles. Although Fortnite has managed to have the top spot on Twitch during a few months this year, it has still lost to League of Legends in terms of overall performance. Some fans believe that the viewership of League of Legends received a boost during some of its competitive events. However, both games are well known for having amazing tournaments and events, so it can be the case of both games.
Apex Legends Is Going Strong
In addition to this, Apex Legends was also present in the list of top 10 most watched games on Twitch. For those who don’t know, Apex Legends managed to grab the attention of around 50 million players during its first month. But after a few months, its viewership started to decrease because some players lost their interest in the game. However, it is now great to see that the game has managed to become one of the top 10 most watched games and is growing again.
In any case, these were the results of the first half of 2019. Who knows, maybe Fortnite might be able to beat League of Legends at the end of this year. The Fortnite World Cup Finals are also just around the corner, and they might help Fortnite become the most watched game on Twitch.
