Rainbow Six Siege players will be happy to know that developer Ubisoft has released a brand-new update for their first person shooter title. The update arrived on PC and consoles a few days back. But for those who are yet to download the update, we are going to discuss the things that have arrived with the update.

The update basically introduces a series of balancing changes to different things in the game. It also brings the new API for test purposes along with some other stuff. So, without any further ado, here is how your game will change after you install the update.


Ubisoft has decided to introduce the new API for test purposes through this latest update. According to the developers, it is mean to improve performance on a number of levels over DirectX 11. The new API, called the Vulkan API, will allow the developers to make various improvements on workload.

This will be done through Dynamic Texture Indexing to reduce CPU cost, and Dynamic Resolution and AsyncCompute to reduce GPU cost.  All of this will help the developers with optimizing both the GPU and CPU cost of rendering. Players who are interested in testing out this new API can simply select the option while launching the game. However, we will suggest that you update your video driver for best results.

ADS Time Increased

When Operation Ember Rise was released, the animation time for aiming down sights was improved, but it also decreased the ADS time for all weapons. This caused an outrage among players as they were not happy with it at all. An update was then released on the Test Server earlier this month that kind of made the ADS time similar to what it was before. Now, that feature has arrived along with this latest update. Here is what’s new:

  1. Assault rifles: from 0.30s to 0.40s
  2. DMRs: from 0.30s up to 0.40s
  3. Shotguns: 0.20s up to 0.25s
  4. SMGs: from 0.20s up to 0.30s
  5. LMGs: from 0.40s up to 0.45s
  6. Pistol: 0.10s up to 0.20s
  7. SMG in secondary slots: 0.10s up to 0.275s

Changes to Operators

The update has also brought various balancing to operators. To begin with, Echo has received some changes. Before this update, he was not affected by Dokkaebi’s ability. But this will change once you install the update. Just like other operators present in the game, Echo will start carrying a cellphone with him. This mean that Dokkaebi can now make his phone ring to reveal his position.

Ying is also receiving some changes through this update. We all know that this operator has something that is great for blinding enemies. However, if not used properly, then your teammates can also get affected by it. But after you install this update, his Candelas gadget will become more useful as it will become less prone to friendly fire.

Other operators such as Jager, Ela, Finka, Blackbeard, Smoke, and a few more have also received some changes through the update.
