The games have accelerated significantly in Dota 2 with the arrival of Patch 7.21. The structures have less armor, and the increase in the effects of reduction has managed to cause some games to lose control. No more dual lanes

The “dual lanes” was the strategy of the previous patch. A lane with two strong heroes could easily get out of control by taking levels from the beginning. The team with dual lane often beat the tri-lane team because they had quick access to more skills and better statistics. But with the changes in the mechanism of denying experience in Dota 2 patch 7.21, it is possible to obtain some advantage over the enemy if you deny each “creep”. However, it still does not compensate for the loss of experience.

Early rotations

We are now seeing support heroes who are able to rotate to other lanes to a fight in the early stage. We were able to witness it in the Chongqing Major: heroes like Grimstroke, Earth Spirit, Tusk, and Tiny, occupy the top positions as the most played.

In the case of the “offlane”, heroes are emerging who can single-handedly control the pace of the game. They can practically handle the entire lane without needing help in the initial stage of the game.

Solo Offlaners

Solo offlaners are usually who initiate the team fight since their abilities or the selection of items for the team are valuable. Beastmaster, Centaur Warrunner, Tidehunter, and Dark Seer are able to secure their own farm and they can even be effective in the jungle without requiring many objects.

Essentials in the game

With these changes incorporated in Dota 2 patch 7.21, and the setup of the lanes, we are seeing that much of the responsibility falls on the offlaner. Offlaners are the ones who are taking charge of the game in this meta. The offlaners try to obtain an advantage, or at least balance the power, in the lane phase. Even so, they are at a disadvantage against three rivals. The situation of aggressive trilane is also occurring, leaving one team’s offlaner fighting against the other team’s.

In Dota 2 patch 7.21, early items like Vladimir Offerings are the key to success. If the offlaner acquires it early and levels quickly, then the hero can move to ambush other lines. Especially in the case of the “trilane”, there will be heroes with three or four levels below to kill quickly. These early rotations can have a major impact on the game.
