Will Apex Legends Ever Cross Fortnite?

Apex Legends was released back in February 2019, and its debut was a surprise for everyone. This is because developer Respawn Entertainment released it without doing any prior marketing and advertisements. They claimed that they wanted players to test the game themselves instead of relying on advertisements. The game’s launch was a success as it was downloaded by 25 million players in its first week.

The Downfall of Apex

After one month of its release, it was reported that Apex Legends has been downloaded by more than 50 million players. This pretty much confirmed that everyone was loving the newest battle royale from Respawn. Some even started considering it as a direct competitor to Fortnite. However, after a few months, things started going down.

Apex Legends

A few months after Apex was released, Respawn saw a decrease in its overall player base. In addition to this, the game’s viewership on Twitch also decreased slowly, and the fanbase crumbled. This is because many players stopped playing the game as they lost their interest. Some of them claimed that their gameplay experience was getting ruined because of various bugs and glitches, while others said that there is not enough variety in the game.

The Rise

After these incidents, the people in the community thought that Apex was soon going to become a failure. But Respawn Entertainment couldn’t bear any of this, so they decided to work even harder. Within months, they took their battle royale from the ground to the skies. Apex was once again shining, and it is currently being regarded as one of the top battle royale titles in the world. Respawn released a lot of updates through which they added new content to the game such as new legends, cosmetic items, and much more. In addition to this, they started listening to the Apex community more often, something which resulted in many amazing things for them.

Can it Cross Fortnite Any Time Soon?

Some months ago, it was reported that Apex Legends is currently sitting at 70 million players. This means that they are going on the right track. However, the question everyone one has in their mind is that will Apex cross Fortnite any time soon?

The short answer is that they might, but not soon. Fortnite was released back in July 2017, meaning that it has been around for more than three years. The game is played by more than 250 million players every month, and it’s huge. Apex on the other hand, was released a year ago only. In addition to this, Epic Games spends a lot of money on advertising Fortnite in all parts of the world. Respawn Entertainment doesn’t.

Fortnite

However, considering Apex Legend reached 70 million players in less than one year even after some problems, it is possible for them to cross Fortnite in the future. If the developers continue with the same pace and keep on adding new content to their game while keeping everything working, it won’t be long before the player count doubles.
